The Starting Vision:
Today was the first stage of recruiting in starting our Volunteer Organization. My vision is to found an organization unlike traditional foundations that focus around accumulating hours for the sole purpose of an award. This organization is aimed towards creating quarterly projects that will focus on certain issues in the Los Angeles area (and later on expand to more areas) so that we can make a meaningful impact through person to person contact. Being part of another organization surrounding volunteer work, I realized that there were many commitments that members could not consistently make that revolved around gathering hours and not earning them.
Due to these previous observations, a purposeful organization that has a focal point around lowering unneeded commitment and increasing meaningful impact is the aim for the upcoming years.
Recruiting: Today I contacted two friends by the names of Chelsea Hong and Aaron Choi for an interest check regarding the partaking in the founding of the organization. Rather than having created an organization name and other practicalities (which will be addressed after a member count of about 6-8 is achieved), the goal was to get the mission of the organization across and worry about the imaging later. Aaron Choi was on board while Chelsea asked for consideration time and if her other acquaintances could join. A Great Start.
